It was 1st and 3rd for Morris Bacon and Tommy Power at the Ike Saul Memorial Road Race on Sunday. After 106 km of racing it came down to a bunch sprint and we took two of the three podium spots on offer for the second week in a row.
Early on Zak Coleman attempted to force a break but every time a green jersey hit the front half the bunch sat on the wheel. This didn’t stop others getting away though causing Tommy, Morris, Zak and Ben Beynon to close down two breaks to keep us in contention for the win. After 5 laps we reached the flamme rouge as a bunch. Up the final drag Tommy found a gap on the right hand side of the road and then it was just a straight drag race to the line with Colin Bailey (North Road CC). Tommy took the win by half a bike length with Morris just behind us in 3rd.
