This weekend Strada-Sport sent a team of 5 (Morris Bacon, Zak Coleman, Jali Packer, Freddy Pett and Tommy Power) down to Milton Keynes to race the Team Milton Keynes Two Day; a two day stage race consisting of a 3km prologue time trial and a criterium race at the MK Bowl on the Saturday and an 80km road race on the rolling Winslow-Oving circuit on the Sunday.
The time trial brought one top 10 finish for us, with Tommy coming 4th place in 3:59, 2 seconds behind the winner (Edmund Bishop, VC Meudon) and one of only four riders to go sub 4 minutes on the day. Morris and Zak were not far behind (4:09 and 4:12 respectively) and with 2 stages left to race were still well in contention.
The crit race started shortly after and with 70+ riders on a technical circuit, it was lined out from the start making for a brutal 1 hour and 15 minutes of racing. Freddy was up at the front for the majority of the race but it was Zak who was all action, driving it at front and getting into a number of breaks. Almost inievitably though, it came down to a bunch sprint. Liam Davies (Broom Wagon Racing Team) took the win but Zak put in a strong finishing effort to take 6th place and our second top 10 finish. Of the 70+ plus starters, only 28 finished in the front group, including all 5 riders from Strada. A strong team performance heading into day 2 gave us confidence for what we could do in the overall GC.
Day two started off cold and rainy, and on a twisting, rolling circuit, there was a good chance of splits in the pack and breaks going up the road. However, it was only in the final 1.5 laps that the race defining moves occurred. Adam Thompson (Eden Veranda) chipped off the front solo and built up a decent lead. With about a lap to go Zak attacked along with two RP Vision Racing Team riders and they bridged across. The quartet worked hard together and stayed away to the finish with Frazier Carr (RP Vision RT) taking the stage and Timothy Allen of the same team taking the overall win. Zak put in a monster effort in the break to take 3rd in the stage and with it, 3rd overall; another strong result to cap off a great weekend of racing. Behind this, Tommy followed an attack on the main hill with about a quater of a lap to go and broke away with 3 other riders. They quickly put a big gap into the bunch and Tommy managed to finish 2nd in the group (6th on the stage), taking 5th place overall in the process.
It was a great weekend of racing for Strada, with a string of solid results for the team (4 top 10 stage finishes and 3rd and 5th in the overall GC). This definitely bodes well for our final ERRL races of the season.

Finally, our thanks go to David Hurrel and Lesley Goodley, for once again supporting us through another tough weekend of racing. We wouldn’t be able to do it without you.
